Chiltern Croquet Academy
Raising your game!

I had a fantastic weekend with you all and can only recommend the course to other croquet players. Plus, it was good fun with plenty of humour amongst the steady flow of advice and knowledge; a lovely balance to the course.  Nigel

Welcome!

Welcome to the Chiltern Croquet Academy (CCA) website.

Our objective is to “provide a broad range of high-quality croquet courses” in the centre of the country.

We work closely with croquet’s national governing body, the Croquet Association (CA), and ensure that every course is led by an experienced CA-qualified coach. We aim to ensure that all participants not only benefit from our courses, but also enjoy their time with us.

Our courses cover how to improve at both Association Croquet and Golf Croquet, as well as such subjects as tournament management, refereeing and coaching. We also invite top class players to contribute by holding Masterclasses.

Many courses are delivered at the Academy’s home base – the High Wycombe Croquet Club. Others are delivered at different clubs; details for each course’s location are on the CA Website’s Fixtures Calendar.

I have been on several improver’s courses run by the Chiltern Academy and I can’t recommend them enough to other players. They fill the gap between playing socially and playing seriously by equipping the player with an armoury of tools to become better.…... practising the right exercises correctly ultimately improves play. The list of exercises with their purpose that a player can use is very valuable so, really before playing a session, if there is time and there is court space some available time spent on these - not necessarily all of them in one session, but several is time well spent. The course gives players a great insight into how to play well which is gold dust.  Stephen
May I say how excellent I thought the course was.  It was comprehensive, the handouts excellent and really useful, with time for questions, and all within an informal atmosphere; I learnt a lot. Colin
Thank you for a very enjoyable half-day referee refresher seminar last week, which offered some interesting new insights from yourself and the other participants into resolving common difficulties referees encounter. I particularly learned from your clearly explained distinction between strokes played gently and played forcefully when there is a prospect of a double tap. Thank you also for the useful collection of aide memoires (Q Cards), which referees might refer to from time to time for tricky situations.  Darryl
I just want to say how much I enjoyed the Refereeing Refresher Seminar on Wednesday.   It was stimulating and very interesting and I think we all gained a great deal from it.   For my part, with not a year under my belt, it has given me a great deal more confidence in my ability to adjudicate on the situations arising in golf croquet.  Bob
Thank you for yesterday’s referees refresher seminar.  It was really excellent and I spent yesterday afternoon laminating all the Q cards that you provided! It was good to be able to share experiences with other refs under your guidance and very valuable and I am sure that it will make me a better referee.  Tony, GC Ref. and Chair SWF
I was amazed at the number of topics you were able to cover in so much depth with absolutely brilliant and clear slide demonstrations.  You always seem to know in advance which part people are going to have difficulty in grasping and are there with an explanation before the question has even been asked.  Pam
